Is this AI book cover generator free to use?
New users receive free credits to get started. Kindle eBook covers cost just 1 credit per generation — that's all you need for a complete ebook cover. For print-ready paperback or hardcover covers, generation costs 1 credit and downloading the high-res PDF costs 30 credits. Credit packs start at $3.99.
Can I use my eBook cover for my paperback or hardcover?
Not directly. An eBook cover is a front-only portrait image made to the target ebook store's requirements (ratio, pixels, format), while a print front cover is the front panel of a print cover, made to the trim ratio and print resolution. Same name, different image specs — the eBook cover can only be reused as front-panel material and must be reworked for print.
Can I use my paperback front cover as my eBook cover?
It may be accepted, but as-is it's not made to ebook specs. A print front panel follows the trim ratio (6×9 ≈ 1:1.5), while ebook stores suggest their own (KDP 1.6:1, Kobo 3:4). Re-export it as a clean front-only image to the target store's requirements to use it as an eBook cover.
Can I use downloads for publishing projects?
Yes. You can use covers you download for your own book publishing, sales listings, and promotion. BookCoverAI does not claim ownership of those downloads.
How is this different from tools like Canva?
Unlike general design tools that require you to manually assemble stock photos, our AI cover maker starts a fresh cover direction from your story's plot or mood. No design skills are needed to get a professional result.
What genres does the AI support?
The generator includes genre and style presets for common book categories, including romance, fantasy, cookbook, children's books, comics, sci-fi, poetry, mystery, and business books.
