What gets an audiobook cover rejected
Most rejections trace back to three avoidable mistakes.
A true square, not a padded one
ACX explicitly rejects side-bar padding, stretched artwork, and upscaled files. If the source art cannot fill a square honestly, it needs a rebuild.
Your title and author must stay on the art
ACX requires both names on the cover. After any square conversion, check them at thumbnail size before you upload.
Rebuild beats crop for vertical compositions
Center-weighted art survives a straight crop. Tall, text-heavy layouts do not — those are exactly what a recompose pass is for.

What size does an audiobook cover need to be?
For ACX/Audible, at least 2400 × 2400 pixels — a true square in JPG with RGB color. Apple Books and Google Play accept squares built to the same spec. Full per-platform details are in the table above.
Can I just crop or stretch my existing cover?
Stretching adds distortion, and padding the sides with bars gets rejected by ACX. If your art is centered, a careful crop can work; otherwise the layout needs a rebuild — which is what the generator produces.
Is it free?
